My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The BLL Guvnor’s Club (Scottish Branch) successfully completeted the daunting task of the “Three Peaks Challenge”, and climbed the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.

The team consisted of:  John Forson, Euan MacEachern, Richard McInally, Euan McKenzie, Graham Wemyss, Ian Nelson, Lynne McNeill and Stewart Howie.  We are hoping to raise £3,000 between our chosen charities, Teenage Cancer Trust (for The New Children’s Hospital in Glasgow and the Western General in Edinburgh) and Kidney Kids Scotland which can be found at the following link http://www.justgiving.co.uk/Guvnors-Scotland-KK/.

We started this arduous task on Friday 28th August in dreadful weather conditions at Ben Nevis at 6.35 in the evening, the wind was howling giving a wind chill factor of minus 12 at the top, and walking the full descent in the darkness.  Then it was off to Scafell Pike, where the weather conditions were only slightly better, although still as windy, just not quite as cold and to finish, it was off to Snowdon, again weather conditions were wet and lack of sleep and fatigue made this feel longer than it was.  Our support team of John Milner and Stewart McNeill did a fantastic job of getting us to all the mountains on time and providing us with a welcome cup of tea after each climb.  It was a superb team effort, with all finishing the challenge with 5 minutes to spare.  The challenge was made all the more difficult with the poor weather conditions and bank holiday traffic on the roads and on the hills.  A cold beer well earned at the end!!!
