Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running the Great North run on 20th September 2009 in aid of the charity Help the Hospices. The charity's mission is that everyone at the end of life has access to the best possible care. So we offer services to support hospice and palliative care professionals as they support their patients.
My grandad was in our local hospice, The Eden Valley hospice, for the few weeks before he died. The nurses there gave him the best possible care and were fantastic. This is my chance to say thank you and give something back!
Myself and my mam recently took part in the Carlisle Midnight Walk, which was a 10k walk around the city, we raised about £150 between us for The Eden Valley Hospice. This time the distance is quite a bit further and we are aiming to run most of the way and raise loads more money!
The training so far hasn't been easy, I've never been what you would call 'a runner', but I recently lost 3 and a half stone and have been doing loads more exercise, I took up running when I joined the gym to help me lose a bit extra weight and started running on the roads when I made the decision to do the Great North Run. Running outside is a lot harder, but when I think how far I've come and that I would never have been able to do this a few years ago when I was 3 and a half stone heavier keeps me motivated!
