Hi there!
On Saturday 16th September, I will be travelling 50 miles... by unicycle!! This will be a real challenge for me, since this will be the furthest I will have ever ridden! I would imagine it will take around 8 hours to complete. I will be leaving Lindisfarne House (Barbourne Terrace) in the morning - time to be confirmed.
Where the money's going:
50% to St Richard's Hospice
50% to Aberystwyth Christian Union
Aberystwyth Christian Union have a big evangelism project planned for the coming term, starting at the end of September. The project will cost around £3500, so I aim to help out with that cost.
For the technically minded:
My unicycle is a blue Nimbus 29 inch unicycle, with the Kris Holm fusion saddle (also blue). I have put on a Kenda Klaw XT 29 inch tyre (off-road), and for the 50 mile ride, I will be using either 89mm cranks or 80mm cranks. The pedals will be the standard ones which came with the unicycle, and I have fitted toe clips to make the cycling a little easier. To make sure I will have covered at least 50 miles, I have a cycle computer (speedometer) which is mounted on the seatpost. Have a look at www.unicycle.com for more information!
For the geographically minded:
The route will be:
Start at Lindisfarne House. Head West, across Pitchcroft, and over Sabrina Bridge. North up Hilton Road, then turn left towards Martley. At Martley, head North to Great Witley, Abberley, then West towards Tenbury Wells. Before Tenbury Wells, cross river Teme at Eastham, and head South past Highwood. Head East on the B4204, passing through Clifton-On-Teme, and back to Martley. From Martley, making the way on small country lanes, heading to Little Witley, then East to Holt Heath. East again, through Holt Fleet, and on to Ombersley. From Ombersley, South on the A449, back to Worcester and Lindisfarne House.
Ways of giving:
You can either donate straight to St Richard's Hospice through this website, or you can contact me, either by email (mig5@aber.ac.uk) or telephone (01905 831188). The total amount raised will be split 50-50 between St Richard's Hospice and Aberystwyth Christian Union. Your support is greatly valued!!
