My story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

We are hoping raise as much money as possible for St Andrews Childrens Hopice, Grimsby.  http://www.standrewshospice.com/children_index.asp

St. Andrew’s Hospice really does make each day count. They provide holistic care for children and young people living throughout Lincolnshire, Hull and East Riding. All the children and young people they care for have a progressive life limiting illness. Their main aims are to improve their quality of life, to bring fun into their everyday routines by providing specialist medical and nursing care and to keep them smiling. They also offer extensive help and support to their families and carers.

St. Andrew’s Hospice for Children and Young People offers care to anyone who needs it, regardless of race, creed or ability to pay. They offer their service at no charge, relying on the generosity and kindness of charity donations to provide a real home from home for the children and their families.

Admission is open to anyone between birth and the age of 25 years with a progressive life threatening or life limiting illness.

Children and young people who are residents outside of North East Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust are admitted subject to prior arrangement with their Medical Directors.

This is your chance to help give children and young people with life  threatening or life limiting illness the best they can expect from their short life.

Shaun & Richard will be walking from St Bees (Cumbria) to Robin Hoods Bay (North Yorkshire), a 190 mile trek, from the 17th September to 28th September. Steve will  join us for the last three days and will walk the last 55 miles with us.

This walk will be no stroll in the park, we will be walking across England over a 12 day period, a days walk will be anything from 10.5 miles to 23 miles (averaging about 14.5 miles per day). Our quest will start on the West Coast at St Bee's Head (Cumbria), after dipping our toes in the Irish Sea and collecting our pebbles. We will be walking through some of the most breath taking scenery in the UK, and will be finishing our TREK on the East Coast at Robin Hood's Bay (North Yorkshire) and in keeping with tradition, will be dipping our toes in the North Sea and depositing our pebbles.

We should be covering a total distance of 190 miles, we say should, because we can't guarantee that we won't go off track (by mistake rather than by choice) Who's got the map & compass?

Our route will take us across the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors.  We will be camping at most of the overnight stops with the odd stay over in "Youth Hostels" (do they allow 40 + year olds in Youth Hostels?) and B&B's for a bit of luxury during the 20 to 23 mile sections of the walk.

IF YOUR'E A UK TAX PAYER, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU TICK THE GIFT AID BOX - IT WON'T COST YOU A PENNY MORE, BUT ST ANDREWS CHILDREN'S HOSPICE WILL GET MONEY THAT THE TAX MAN WOULD OTHERWISE RECEIVE!  WHO WOULD YOU RATHER GIVE YOR MONEY TOO?

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: St Andrew's Children's Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
