"After the hot and dry Sahara the natural follow on seems to be the wet and cold of Iceland!I still don't like hiking or camping so it will be a challenge"  -  That was how I saw it before I left -

Little did I know that after 3 days of hiking wet through, freezing and questioning my sanity that the trek would be abandoned due to extreme adverse weather conditions.  I did question why an I doing this???? when I was clinging to the side of a mountain trying desperately to get my feet to find somewhere that wasn't collapsing beneath them to stand on, we had even ventured out in such weather; and when we were walking on top of the ridge at some1000 metres in winds gusting up to 80 miles an hour, I really wondered if we would all make it safely back home never mind to the overnight camp on a wet boggy moss field by a rapidly rising river with wet clothes wet tents wet bags and a steep 15 foot climb to loos and food!!!

However we all survived to tell the tale and even though the trek was not able to be completed the 11 hour day fighting the elements more than made up for the distance we were unable to walk!!!

I managed to raise £3500 for Macmillan Cancer Support to enable them to continue helping people affected by Cancer when I hiked the Sahara and that was I now realise a walk in the park compared to Iceland, so  I think I deserve to raise even more this time - So if you have already sponsored me - thank you - and can you please spare any more - and if you haven't then please consider what I have just been through which even though it was frightening and horrendous it cannot be as bad as the journey most cancer patients embark upon.  Your money will be put to immediate use changing those peoples lives.
