               Hey guys, I've just signed up to this great new fundraising initiative run by the NAS.

£Grand Intentions is a new, fresh and fun fundraising initiative which is all about stating your intention and raising a £Grand to support the NAS!

You can raise your £1,000 however you wish: you might take part in a sponsored swim, organise a party with friends, enter your local fun run, or cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats - whatever takes your fancy!

You can raise a £1,000 in one go if you want to, or you can take it a bit easier and aim for the £250 and £500 incentive stages before hitting the £Grand finale! Whichever approach you take, well support you from the moment you state your £Grand Intention.

What is Autism?

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with, and relates to, other people. It also affects how they make sense of the world around them. Without the right support, it can have a profound – sometimes devastating – effect on individuals and families. It is a spectrum condition, which means that, while all people with autism share three main areas of difficulty, their condition will affect them in different ways. Some people with autism are able to live independent lives but others may need a lifetime of specialist support.

1. Sponsored walk around Eastville park in Bristol, we walked for 2 hours, helping to raise awareness of Autism and Aspergers and bring in some much needed funds for the NAS.

2. Climb Glastonbury tor - 8th April 2009  - We made it!!!!! Thanks to my wonderful team mates who came with me and encouraged me up the large hill (and my was it large!!!)  - bringing our total to almost 200 pounds so far! 800 to go!!

 3. NAS thomas train walk - Avon valley railway Bitton (http://www.trainwalk.org.uk/ ) - 14th June 2009 - Last weekend we all stood in a line and walked a section of the bristol to bath railway bath as part of the NAS thomas walk. It was a lovely day and the children got chance to ride the train back (tho we didnt see thomas) and also meet some creatures close up (including a royal python, rats and millipedes). Our total now stands at 274.50

4. Sponsored walk - 13 mile; Bristol to Bath railway path - 5th July 2009 - Well we did it!!! 13.25 miles in 5hrs 12 mins (including breaks and alot of avoiding speeding cyclists)!! Donations so far stand at 294.70. Thanks to Jeff for organising the walk and to his dad for keeping me company and encouraging me along the way and also to his mum for hanging around for us (how boring must that of been).

5. Fun day for Autism - 16th August 2009 - Bristol - A fun day of activites, food, drink and games, includng lucky dip, tombolla, raffle, auction, kids rides, target frisbee, bouncy castle, face painting, name the bear, beat the goalie, local stalls, displays and much more.   - We raised a further £261.41 at this event taking our total to £583.91 . Just over 400 to go!!

6. Ladies nite - a nite of pampering followed by a raffle/auction.

7. Sponsored bike ride - Bristol to bath cycle path on wheels.

8.  Trek up mount snowdon - myself and a group of friends who all met on facebook connected by autism have decided to get ourselves organised and trek up mount snowdon to raise more vital funds for autism charities.
