Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976, with the sole aim of ridding the world of poverty housing. Using donated money, materials and labour we work in partnership with people in need of shelter to build safe, decent homes in over 90 countries around the world. Today we have built, repaired or renovated over 300,000 homes, helping over one and a half million people in more than 3,000 communities.

My story

I am delighted to announce my involvement with Habitat for Humanity's Global Village Challenge. On November 14th, 2009, I will be flying to Bangladesh for this challenge and staying there until November 27th. During this time, I will be in a team building a home for a family and also celebrating my 23rd birthday which falls on the 22nd of November.

Throughout my life, I've been involved in various charities; from soup kitchens to academies for less able people. It never ceases to amaze me the richness of what I have received far outweights the little I have put in. For my birthday this year, I've decided to celebrate it by being involved in this challenge and giving back what little I can to the world.

This opportunity in November is yet the biggest volunteer challenge I will have been involved in. I know this will be an experience I will never forget, but for this to happen, I need your support. I ask you to please help me fund the building of a house for a family in need by donating now.

Donating through JustGiving is great because it is simple, fast and completely secure. Although if you would like to support me in another way, I am completely happy with that also. :-) And for those who would like to buy me a gift for my birthday, I can think of no better way than to help fund me for this trip.

Habitat for Humanity is a charity that has a vision of a world where everyone has a home. It was founded in 1976, and since then more than 300,000 houses have been built worldwide. There are still nearly 1 billion people living in slums, let us remedy that by building a decent home for them one at a time. Every family deserves a home. Let us make this happen!
